Our hearts and prayers are with our country

Today's heart-breaking events in Connecticut snap all of us into the reality of our vulnerability as humans. Yet at the same time, as followers of Christ we have hope and know the truth of the resurrection. God has a plan.

Although the death of children and their teachers makes no sense to us, we believe in a God of providence. A God who loves all, knows all, and is forever present with us in times of distress and in times of joy. Our God can make things that are evil eventually result in good we never imagined possible and this is the power of the Almighty to love, create, and act constantly and consistently for the good of God’s plan for all of creation.

It is at times like today that we reach out for our families and loves ones, share hugs, tears, and consoling words, and also come before our God in fervent prayer for healing, peace, and wholeness for all people.

The congregation of Central Presbyterian Church joins our country today as we cry out to God for relief from the evils and pain of this world forever seeking the promised peace that will come with the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
